Hi, I'm Pragya.
I’m a psychotherapist and researcher who works with clients in-person and online.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is integrative- I take inspiration from different schools of thought, with a focus on the psychodynamic and humanistic perspectives. This approach is based on deep reflection and understanding your past and present selves with warmth, care and empathetic holding.
The therapy room is democratic and collaborative; this is where we co-create a space for healing and self discovery. To me, the heart of therapeutic work lies in the process and not the resolution.
My academic training and experience in community work and research has led me to take a psychosocial approach- I view the individual as shaping and shaped by the culture and community they inhabit. Therefore, inclusivity, intersectionality and social justice are guiding principles of my work. I am queer-affirmative and trauma-informed in my practice.
I do this work because of my belief in the power and potential of psychotherapy. The social climate we are in does not give enough importance to the mental and emotional wellbeing of the individual and I chose to work in mental healthcare in the hopes of inhabiting a space of thoughtful, passionate and ethical practice.
