Hello, I'm Kritika.
I'm a counselling psychologist with a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Narrative Therapy & Community Work.

I was naturally drawn to psychology due to my belief that every person has their own unique perspective and understanding of the world. As a therapist, I strive to honour and respect the individual experiences my clients trust me with; and to create a safe space where they can openly express themselves.

In my free time, you can find me drinking a Coke and reading - mostly contemporary female authors but sometimes pop-culture news. My ideal day would include some great pasta and watching a comfort sitcom.
To me, therapy is a balance between depth and lightness; a back and forth between discomfort and comfort - a space where we can work through any struggles, but also a space for self-exploration and growth; a space where you can not only talk about difficult or unpleasant feelings, but also be able to have a genuine laugh with me.
My Approach
I believe the every person is as unique as they are similar - no two people will have the same exact experience or takeaway from a specific event. As a result, in my work, I draw from an insight-oriented, psychodynamic school of therapy that emphasizes past experiences and how they play out for you in the present, influencing your unique understanding of the world.
Complementing this, a humanistic perspective places you as the expert of your life, and I work with you to understand (without judgement and with curiosity) what you bring in to the therapy space. My aim is not to provide solutions, but to make space for your emotions, vulnerabilities, and also your strengths.
With a foundation in narrative therapy, I embrace a non-pathologizing approach, moving away from diagnostic labels. People are complex and multistoried, and I find it hard to reduce a person to a label because I hold that "the person is not the problem; the problem is the problem." My work focuses on helping you uncover and explore the diverse narratives that define your experiences and identity.
I also believe that the personal is indeed political. Our individual stories are influenced by larger social, cultural, and political dynamics. In our sessions, we will delve into these contexts, working to understand their impact on your life and how you can re-author your narrative to what you prefer to be your story.
